Alter, reuse, recycle

I love my JCrew favorite fit chinos. But they’re too big. Along with my dark blue trouser jeans. so I’m going to – for the first time – do a waistband alteration. You know, pick out the band, cut it in half, sew the back seam up through the band, then sew down the band (for future alterability). I also shortened one of my fave old (almost vintage now) skirts – the teal and cream basketweave print skirt. And I’m taking two other skirts – the mod arty print and the long floral and making those into floaty tops. I didn’t need that many skirts – and I’ve tired of these two. I’m going to shorten my three bias silk skirts – chocolate animal print jaquard, Hong Kong silk print and the big floral silk print (those, i do like the shape as skirts, and the colors fit with my SWAP).

So I’m altering, reusing and recycling. And reducing, too.

I’ve made zero progress on sewing since my last post because of an unexpected kitchen remodel (our disposer fell out of our 30 + year old cast iron/porcelain sink). yeah. But we have gorgeous new dark slate/copper tile countertops with dark gray grout (yummy!)

Well it will be when the grout gets done tomorrow…
