August, stay a while

August is the busiest month of the summer. And the one I have the least money in. Besides being the 9th annual Tour de Road America, our bike ride to fight cancer (brought to you by 12 volunteers including a foundation of 4 of us), it’s my youngest brother’s wedding, my mom’s birthday, and the annual club bike ride to round out Labor Day weekend (which, admittedly, is September, but just barely.)

My weeks already careen by, a blur of Housecleaning Monday, swim lessons, sailing, swim lessons, and then trips somewhere. I’ve been busy at work, incredibly busy, as I launch a new company/new brand. I’ve had not much time to sew, catching moments here and there.

So this weekend, a trip up to the beach. Where I will slow down. This means I am only taking knitting and TWO sewing projects (barely there 48 hours!) I am going to sew a silk maxi dress and a swim suit. I’ve started both, so I’m ahead of the game.

I built a wardrobe for the weekend around my Lake House necklace. Aqua crochet wrap sweater, white tank top, cream shorts and cream crochet sweater, dark slate strapless knit top, brown belt and slate silk pants. Perfect for this deep summer weekend. I can practically smell the lake air, and hear the surf crashing on the beach now!

Hope your weekend is just as lovely, just as productive and just as relaxing.
