I found a swimsuit pattern

that I think i can alter for nursing and that I will like, and serves my needs. It’s Kwik Sew 3608, a lovely strapless tankini. I’ll lengthen the body twice it’s normal length and do some ruching straps on the sides to cinch the tank part up to make it more bikini.

On the nursing access, i haven’t  yet decided. I could make it with overlapping openings like my Motherwear swimsuit, or I could make it with a pull down double layer like the Boob-style nursing openings. Either way, I need elastic on a shelf bra, and a complete full underlayer. I also thought about inverting the shelf bra and making it the overlay and the body the underlay and handling it that way, so it’ll look like there’s an empire seam. but I like that idea the least of all right now.

So I’ll use my gift card to get some swimwear fabric (enough to do a ‘muslin’ –  hopefully wearable, and a real version). And, of course, swimwear elastic. As for the mama belly? Well, working on it!

My current plan for Florida is one dress, one skirt/swimsuit coverup, two pairs shorts, four tops and a cardi/jacket. And whatever pants I wear down on the plane. I’ll take my sundress I took last fall to florida, a new skirt that I’ll sew soon, a couple of camisoles, a couple of tops and pants TBD. Mainly I’m focusing on the swimsuit as the one ‘newly sewn’ item on this trip.

Never made one before, hoping to succeed wildly!
