sew sidelined

I got the flu a week ago, and it’s taken me til today to feel halfway normal. There may be sewing in my future. I am elevating the Riviera Jacket to the top after the two I have cut now (to make a mini-capsule wardrobe). And then, some home dec, and then sewing for peanut before we move in late July. Then, it’s curtains for me. Living room curtains, that is!

But I’m excited about the Riviera Jacket again. I picked up a Sew Stylish from last year, when I was cleaning my magazine bin, and found the cropped orange jacket and jeweled bib necklace articles, both of which I like. I don’t have jewels, but I thought the same, with some vintage buttons would be an interesting necklace to make! I have some gold sheer organza that I will use as the base. Whenever I get to it!

Anyway, the cropped jacket got me thinking about summer cropped jackets and that Riviera, in the teal cotton/poly knit from Toronto is perfect for it. It’ll top the wrap dress and coordinate with the red tote perfectly. A nice mini summer capsule, with my black pants and cream pants already sewn this year. I’ve got plenty of tops in wardrobe to go with it too.

Yes, I know, there’s a lot on my plate, but sewing helps me feel in control and it is very distracting from all the things on my mind right now. I’m having a lunch break and spending some time thinking about sewing.
