I used to live in paradise. In fact I owned Paradise (Graphic Design) for more than 15 years before forming a new design firm with two other designers. And as for many of you, sewing (and crafting, thrifting and other creative pursuits) is paradise to me.
This space is to share the creative process (sometimes all we do is think about sewing, but that’s OK), a few tutorials, some inspiration and projects completed. All from a mama who loves fashion, but is a devoted penny-pincher.
I’m a graphic designer by education and profession. I own a marketing, web development and design firm in a midsize midwestern university town, and our office is housed in an 1880s Victorian that we also own.
I have been sewing since I was 9. My first pattern was a denim wrap skirt in home ec summer recreation classes. I’m a mother to two young children, a daughter, 4, and a son, 1.
In my spare time I design handbags. I’m very particular about my bags. They must be sturdy, totally functional and very hip. I have a classic bent for my style, and my bags reflect that. Big totes large and stylish enough to carry kid gear. Clutches worthy of a fabulous suit and heels. I think with a good bag, you can conquer anything your day has to throw at you.
