Summer’s back!

Just in time for the solstice! I have a terribly busy week at work, including two evening events this week (something I never or at least rarely do.) All this summer has me in an outdoorsy-fitnessy mood. Biking, running, yoga, walking. And I think, gee, am I the only fashionista-ish mama who wants to wear a maxi dress one day, a yoga outfit the next, and something sporty and casual? Probably not. Some patterns I love for summer include:

This Christine Jonson Patterns dress. Wrap dresses are my go-to for summer. I am thinking of making a maxi version (most of the time I make knee-length versions). I also love a great couple of skirts, and Christine Jonson has a great 3-paneled skirt that I love, too. These two are excellent in printed or solid knits, which I have a large stash of right now. The top of the wrap dress is double layered so you don’t have to worry about seam finishing. The skirt is serged to the doubled top. I have a print knit for the skirt and a solid knit for the dress, which I might try as a long-length maxi. The nice thing about the wrap is it’s easy to walk in as a maxi length.
