The new sewing playroom

It’s gorgeous. The light just streams in this house unlike the other, which was cozy and serene in a different way. This one is dramatic, with high ceilings, a ton of light. But the front playroom is delightful. My machines are encsconced inside their cabinet, with it’s gorgeous silky oak grain shimmering in the afternoon sun. I don’t dare sew before we get the other house moved/cleaned/ready for the tenants (though I’m itching to finish the Homage tote in that new space).

It’s a perfect spot. Peanut’s toys and our futon couch are in there too. She’ll have things to play with while I sew. And it’ll be our spot. It needs some new pillow covers, of course, but hey, that sounds like a sewing project to me!

I’ll wait until I decide what artwork goes on those walls before deciding what fabric to pull out of stash for those pillows. I do have the green & white stripe (which also begs to be outdoor pillows, too) which would coordinate with the futon cover. But I think it needs some contrast.

I also decided to use big dark blue squares on our duvet cover to cover up the ill-fated button system I used to have. They’ll be graphic appliques without being too cutesy. Right now I have to turned to the solid side to hide them, but the white side has always been the ‘summer’ side and I’d like to use it.

There’s so much sewing to do in this new space – curtains, pillow covers, more napkins that it’s exciting to imagine! The first time I unfold the cabinet to sew will be a special day. I’ll post about it for sure.
