I think about sewing projects. It helps me calm down to sleep. Really. I also think about sewing projects when I ride the bike, but hubs says I stop putting power to the pedals when I do that.
So last night, when I couldn’t sleep, I thought about an entire travel wardrobe from Christine Jonson’s patterns. Here’s how it would go:
Jacket- fitted jacket or swing jacket both in a knit.
Pants – denim flare leg and straight leg in knit – either made boot cut or Hollywood straight from the hips. If I liked a skinny pant I’d make it the pattern style. But I prefer a wider or flared pant. And dark slim fit denim flare is de rigeur for Europe these days.
Skirt – base wear two straight skirt with or without the flounce. With would be fun and flirty.
Wrap top, sleeveless, in two colors for twice the wear
Keyhole top, either sleevless and two colors for twice the wear or long-sleeved season dependent
Princess seam top with cap or long sleeves (season depending)
The one seam wrap in a fancy knit for fun over the sleeveless tops.
And the Easy Coat over it all. Probably some sort of rainproof fabric since it always rains when I travel, sometime. I usually am very fearful of the coat, but I remember how much fun I had making this one, and how, well, easy it was!
How it comes together:
You could do a black and white with red with a red coat. A brown and teal and aqua with cream or tan coat. The wrap dress in a print, the skirt in a print. A sophisticated gray, aubergine and taupe with a teal coat.
See, how perfect? An entire wardrobe in well-fitted basics, pick a color palette, and sew. That’s the thing about Christine’s patterns, you can DO just that! They are drafted so well, they fit so well, they are absolute TNT patterns.
