The messenger bag and the sewing day

The messenger bag is DONE! and it came out GREAT! I am going to retweak one little part of topstitching on the front (where the lining and the bag are sewn closed – I don’t really need topstitching there, so I’ll remove it, and slipstitch it closed instead. But otherwise, it’s finished!

Of course the whole bag thing took longer than I wanted – I hadn’t factored in the 20+ minutes to take a break to make milk for the baby or my lengthy lunch with a friend – but I should have enough time to start the cape and make good progress on the body, lining, and collar, before putting everything up to pick up the babe from day care.

This weekend, I’ll wrap the rest up, and hope to also fix our comforter, and sew a friend’s shower curtain!

At that point, the Micro Mini Swap is finished, and I can move on to the next set of projects. I’m thinking of making the red swirl print into the princess wrap top from Christine Jonson, pair with a pair of wool pants from my closet, and a wool moto jacket from one of my OOP Vogue Elements. The moto jackets are in, I’d like to have one before they go BACK out of style again!
