5 brand new sporty, chic and lounge sewing patterns I recently purchased

Get ready to be on trend with stylish sport-chic sewing patterns to sew for this fall. I recently purchased several in the trendy sport chic and lounge sewing pattern category. I bought these because my life is increastingly casual – and I want to dress fun and chic but also comfortable. I drive quite a bit as a hockey parent, and I also have a dog that I walk every day (multiple times.)

The Hadid Track Pants from Ready to Sew. Love those Adidas stripes? Try these using PINTUCKS. Gah, so good!

I also purchased this knit sporty set using piping and side panels/front panels from Know Me by Holly Darling. This has the trendy “corset” piecing this time with piping. I also love the side piping and integrated side panel pocket on these.

These two patterns from HotPatterns are my go-to for sporty pants and the wide leg ones have front and back pintucks. Super on trend. The Tailored Trackpants can be made with a knit jogger cuff or elastic at the ankles. HP regularly runs Friday bundle specials of their patterns.

Sporty isn’t complete without a great sweatshirt or hoodie and these two fit the bill, but bonus that I can sew them for my whole family.

Tops you’ll love for that sporty chic look.

I know this one is going to look like “fancy going to dinner blouse” but hear me out: this is also a sporty top too! The ruched top looks super fancy but it’s an easy to sew top. And it’ll look good over your track pants too. This is the Maker’s Atelier Ruched Top

Next up, besides the tops in the sets shown above, is another standalone top that looks great as loungewear and one of my favorites to sew (I do have to lengthen this 1.5″on the sleeves). The Mile End isn’t new for me nor is it new, but it’s got some fun details I think will make it new-feeling for your wardrobe.

Absolutely no wardrobe would be complete without a boxy top/ tee shirt. I wax poetic about the Antero shell so here’s more of them that you’ll love:

TrueBias Jesse tee:

This is a great basic. Almost every sewing pattern designer has a great basic boxy tee, so if you have a designer you love that fits you well, make theirs!

These patterns are great for sporty chic looks. You can top them with a great oversized coat for fall and winter weather. Whether you’re going to the grocery store, the sports arena, or walking the dog, sporty chic looks work great under a me-made winter coat too!

If you need a layering piece, try a vest! Here are two more new patterns I recently purchased:

These two vest patterns are easy to sew.

But also, don’t overlook a super basic vest from your own pattern stash – almost any can be made up in fleece fabric. Heck, you can even practically no-sew or hand-sew one if you’re out and about by cutting the top and back out of one piece of fabric (align the shoulder seamlines on the fabric when flat and cut it out as one piece). You can then just hand-stitch the sideseams by overlapping the seamlines and stitching them from the inside. Voila! a hand-sewn and practically instant vest. Crop it and wear it over a cropped tee or a long sleeve tee.
