ASG!

So I had a fabulous time at the ASG conference in Chicago! I took three sessions in one day, and did a bit of shopping in the expo. I took Christine Jonson’s perfect sizing worksheet (which confounds me less, and I feel confident in trying to use it soon). I also took Peggy Sager’s 12 fashion sewing tips and Pati Palmer’s 20 tips to improve your sewing. It was interesting to compare Peggy and Pati (both legends in the biz). I think Peggy’s approach is more my style, but tips from both will definitely help improve MY sewing!

I bought five pieces of fabric – a gorgeous, expensive slate blue cashmere from the Wool House (one of those Vogue ponchos I posted the pattern of last fall), a silk duppioni for a baby sling gift for a friend, a stretch cotton in a coral tropical print for a nursing sundress, a bold big floral knit for a wrap dress, and a bold swirly print for a top. It was a good haul, spent my budget, and had a great day to myself. Met my friend Sue from CA, it was a lovely time!

I’m back now. I’m procrastinating on the denim shorts and button front dress – the dress in particular because it’s so hot this week. I just don’t want to think denim dress right now!  But if I can get the shorts cut out… that’ll be half the battle at finishing THAT swap. I can move on next week when the weather gets cooler.
