I am sitting in the sand in wide leg sandwashed silk pants and a classic striped french tee. This mix of luxury and casual is lush. I feel beautiful. I’m never sure if I look beautiful – my eyes are a bit tired from a late night and early morning yesterday, I have no make-up on, I’ve run 3.1 miles and biked 20, but with the breeze blowing and sitting here with my beautiful son, in the sand, I feel beautiful and that is all that matters.
“I don’t understand how a woman can leave the house without fixing herself up a little– if only out of politeness. And then, you never know, maybe that’s the day she has a date with destiny. And it’s best to be as pretty as possible for destiny.” –Coco Chanel
I think Coco would approve of the wide leg silk pants, and the Breton tee, sitting in the sand with my son, who is playing with digging trucks.
I’ve brought with me to the beach three sewing projects – a watercolor floral brushstroke print knit maxidress, a crinkled Missoni-inspired knit infinity scarf, and a batik-print tiered ruffle dress for my five year old. While the sun shines we are in it, but a rainy morning forecast will keep me in the sewing room, and that’s just fine. We love beach sewing.
