Burda Jacket

So does it look like the photo? Sorta… I cut out a 38, which clearly was too small – the shoulder width was much tinier than I expected (I’m usually a 38 or 40) and so it doesn’t close where it should – the collar becomes sort of a portrait collar. But it’s very cute, cropped and came out pretty nice – not bad for my first jacket. But not exactly like the photo. I’m not sure – except cutting out the 40 – it would have worked no matter how I sewed it.

But it’s my first Burda pattern, and I will say that it went together OK. I needed Vogue Sewing to finish it (but they do say to toss out your instructions and learn to sew using other techniques). So I’m reasonably happy with it. I just need to hem the sleeves and bottom, add the snaps and buttons and be done with it.
