Fabric sources for 2025

If you don’t have a local fabric store, try mine! They stocked up prior to the tariffs, and have an amazing selection of natural fiber fabrics that are worthy of your sewing time. https://seamsfabric.com. Call, order online, or check out their social media!

I shared other options in this blog.

If you want to augment your fabric selection look for the following:

Secondhand and thrift stores – besides fabric itself, you can also repurpose blankets, sheets, tablecloths, larger garments. You can also upcycle garments like men’s dress shirts into other garments (like skirts or tops for yourself.)

Estate sales – a lot of women in this age range had large stashes. Take advantage of them!

Friends with aunts and grandmothers that are not sewing anymore. Ask around! Raid their stashes!

Online sources: linens from Fabric-store.com are amazing, try also, Ebay, Etsy, and other secondhand sources.

Your own closet – have things you never wear? Repurpose them!

Half the fabrics below are from gifted sources, the other half are from Seams Fabric (my local fabric store – LFS – but could also be yours!)

There is only ONE USA made source of fabric, denim from Vidalia Mills (also available from my LFS, as Vidalia does not sell direct to the public). But it’s high quality USA cotton, produced on Cone Denim machines (the original ones!) in Louisiana. Well worth your time.

There is also online marketplace Destashify and FB Marketplace! PatternReview.com is another good place to check for stashes.
