Okay so I’m at Disney in Orlando and it’s gorgeously hot out. Just like I remember, and love Florida to be. So I’m so happy I sewed a sundress! I’ll be wearing it this evening to dinner, and probably home on the plane too, we’ll see. Tomorrow night I may wear it too (another dinner, who cares if twice in a row!).
So I’m having a big disconnect between the lovely fall sewing ideas I posted day before yesterday and the weather outside. Of course in our room – while the baby naps – it’s freezing (she’s encsonsed under a fleece blankie). But it’s still got that heady, summer sunshine indoors look to the light, that light that I always loved about Florida.
I brought a sarong I sewed for the Caymans several years ago (five?) which conveniently matches with my EL NC 107 tank top (I added three front pintucks to the CF as detail).
I miss it here, in many ways, and I didn’t sew enough while I lived here to have things from this time, either. I remember only one project clearly – an A-line wrap skirt in a blue floral cotton, and I don’t remember what I did with it.
Ah well, lots of projects I’ve sewn came with me – cream raimie/cotton shorts, my teal nursing tank, a sarong, a dress, my cream linen blend pants, the brown tunic, two baby dresses… So they’re part of Florida living even if I didn’t make them here.
