It’s a classic. I bought some poplin (or some other cotton shirting) at FFC online early this summer to make one. Been struggling with what to make. I hate to make a plain classic shirt, really, there’s nothing distinctive to say “I made this” about it. You could go to the Gap or Target and get one and no one would be the wiser. But on my walk with the dog on the beach tonight, I decided a pintucked breastfeeding shirt would be nice. I have one with a jewel neckline, a five button placket, empire waist design that I can add pintucks to. And I’ll go with bell sleeves with a small button cuff to cinch them down if I so desire.
It seemed so, well, right, like I’d found the right thing to make this white shirting out of. It won’t look like a Gap shirt, it will look distinctive, and it fits with my mantra of sewing for the now. I’m nursing NOW, and when I’m not, I’ll save them for the next kid (s).
I’ll wear it with dark skinny jeans and really high heels. Maybe something like this:
