There’s a hack going around to rid your Pinterest AI of slop in your searches, and it’s so simple and beautifully funny!
You CAN use an adblocker like Adblock Plus to remove ads, but this works even better. Simply put a swear word in your search term like this one “Kayak aesthetic shit” (which, frankly is a great search topic”. You can do it everywhere.
Now, I’m told this ALSO works on Etsy (the land of AI slop) too and I have yet to try it, because sewing patterns on there are riddled with AI (including AI produced patterns, which, ick, and waste of time and money since they won’t work.)
I’m doing this everywhere! You can use any other curse word you like. It does HAVE to be a curse word because that’s what is filtered out. No brand wants their stuff associated with shit, after all.
And the same search with adblock plus on shows us it’s identical, so you can confidently say that just adding a curse word works!
How brilliant is that? And you get to add a curse word to your searches which is fun. Now, whether this search also follows you around, I will need to test that, and report back if it does not trigger the ads to follow you around based on these search terms.
I chose these searches quite randomly, but I do have a (double tandem) kayak and I do have white linen pants (though I gave them to my daughter and have fabric to make another pair for myself), so I wasn’t specifically looking for these items, and therefore, any triggered algo that pushes to my other apps should show up for me pretty fast.
If you’re like me and use Pinterest to search for and help you sort out your sewing inspiration, this is a brilliant hack that works so easily without extra extensions or software, and it seems to be just as effective with ads.
