Isn’t that the quote? “asking a sewist to do mending is like asking Michelangelo to paint your garage”? Yeah. So I altered 4″ or more out of the back of two pairs of pants. One, the Jcrew Favorite Fit khakis are my favorite casual pants. The other, a pair of inexpensive denim trouser jeans from Kmart. But both have welt pockets on the back, which are awfully close to one another now! Oops! They fit, yes, and they’ll be fine (I didn’t realize *just* how much I was going to have to remove).
But I’m not altering any more. I will need a couple of pairs of summer dressy pants for work, and at least a couple casual pairs. It’s time to get sewing I guess!
I do know, in my stash, I have some off white stretch cotton sateen, black and white mini houndstooth and dark denim. That should get me started anyway. I think I’ll choose the Janina pant, and the CJ flare leg pant as my two. I also have some Italian tropical weight wool, which would do as well.
I thought about buying some pants, but I think between these two patterns I should have a good fitting choice or two.
