I stopped into a Plato’s Closet location tonight with a friend. This is strictly weekend-wear-store for the late 30 somethings that we are. It’s a teen store, with skimpy tanks, tees that say pithy things like “boyfriends are like purses. you need one for every outfit” and racks and racks and racks of denim. I got a pair of perfect fitting jeans, and a maxi tube top dress. As I commented to my friend S., I said “gotta have dresses where I can get a boob out” and she suggested “many of this store’s shoppers often are after the very same goal!” Indeed! Only I’m sure they are not feeding a baby, LOL. But it’s cute, and fun weekend wear. She got a beautiful brown beaded cami. I got a maxi tube top dress in a yellow floral, resin cuff bracelet to match, and a pair of jeans.
I love to buy jeans secondhand, especially. They are already preshrunk so the fit is what you get. And that’s perfect for me.
I’m loving this month’s Burda World of Fashion – maxi dresses, bikinis, baby clothes. Never thought you’d see those three things in a sentence together, eh? But if I’m to be bikini worthy by my vacation in a month, I must do some situps and put the kaibosh on the chocolate, ice cream and white foods.
So, what to sew? finish the denim jeans, start the shirt dress (which looks very approachable, thank you very much. I’ll check out Pam’s tutes beforehand too) and work on the next project – the red/coral cotton floral nursing dress and the purple linen Hot Patterns jacket.
It’s a fun summer, I’m loving it.
