sewing day success

I managed to sew together the body parts of the cape – and lining. But in sewing them up I realized the CF plaids did NOT match. Not even close. So I had to recut (!) new CF panels. One is perfect, the other slightly off. That’ll be the underlap for the double breasted front 😉 I won’t be accepted at F.I.T. anytime soon 🙂 Anyway, that’s as far as I got. I plan to trim the undercollar, sew together the collar and assemble the cape hopefully tomorrow. I might get the collar done tonight if I can get the crabby baby down to bed anytime before 10pm (not looking likely – it’s 923pm).

The lining is delish. It’s Kasha flannel back satin from Vogue Fabrics in Evanston, IL. And boy, I’m ever glad it’s close to my in laws when we go there to visit 😉 Usually I make the 15 minute drive downtown at least 2x a year.

It was a lovely day! I’m glad I did it. I did feel a wee bit of pressure, but you know I stopped on the cape, did the right thing (recut the front panel) and I’m happy because of that. I did rip out a few seams besides (it’s a cape! But I was tired at that point I think).

I’m giving careful thought to the next projects. Trying to figure out what I really need to get me through a typical week. Pajamas. I need those too.
