I went to JCPenney today (not my usual store) to use a gift card that I’d gotten for my b-day. I found a very skinny wallet-esque thing, and dangly frilly earrings. But I also looked for pants. There was only ONE PAIR of size four anything in the entire store, that I could find. All the cords – started at 8. The khakis, started at 8. And this is not a real 8, but the new size 12 as size 8, size 8. I was shocked! Has America really gotten THAT FAT? So now, if mainstream stores don’t carry 4’s, eventually the secondhand stores won’t carry them either, and then what the hell am I going to wear?
This is a sewing blog. I know you must be laughing by now.
So, I guess, I’ll start sewing a size 38 pants (the old 8, in Euro sizes, but still the same size pattern as I wore before!)
