Today, I shopped. With an hour to kill between appointments (how’d that happen?) I stopped at a fave secondhand store. I picked up an airy spring green and white marled turtleneck poncho/cape, a gold metallic handbag (roomy) and a black boucle jacket with cutaway front, interesting under bust gathers and seaming and edge-to-edge front closure.
They’re all interesting pieces that will take me into spring easily. And while I was in the car driving to pick up my peanut (who will also get a trip to the secondhand store soon for spring clothes for her birthday), I thought that I could knit some flowers from a multicolored mohair yarn to affix to a beige turtleneck poncho in my wardrobe. It has a small tear that I repaired, and should be covered up with something, so I thought the knit flowers would work well.
This weekend I plan to cut swimwear and sew the first suit – the Kwik Sew bandeau tankini in burgundy. I think I’ll use the bright aqua to make the Elizabeth Lee Nursing Classics tankini suit (with straps). I know chasing a toddler is active – I wanted a suit to sun in and one to run in.
It was a nice chance to something for myself.
