Starting the sundress

I finished the baby outfit (modeling to happen tomorrow, so pics tomorrow) and moved on to the red/coral stretch cotton sundress. Yeah, yeah, I know. it’s after Labor Day, summer’s over! Not exactly. It’ll be 86 tomorrow. Here. Yes, indeed. But by the lake, with the seabreeze, it’s more like 76.

I tried using bias binding as piping. Ugh. it’s not piping. it waggled about and stretched (hellooo? bias binding? what was I thinking!) And it’s not the look I was going for. So I’m skipping it. I did cut apart the placket (it was a cut on facing) but I left SAs so I can just sew it up like it was designed that way and it’ll be perfect. We’ll see what buttons I can find in Mom’s stash since I forgot buttons of my own. And I don’t feel like going into town to find some. Or maybe I should, that way I can stop into the little store and buy souvenirs for my business partners. It’s a tradition, we bring back trinkets. I’ve been gone two weeks. I should bring back NICE trinkets.

I”m very pleased with the sewing weeks. I’ve been doing it during naptime and that’s been a huge bonus – if I can sew during naps here, I can sew during naps at home.
