I worked on the wrap tube top this afternoon while baby was asleep. I did some frog stitching and was so mad at myself – thinking I should stop sewing. But then I had a realization – EVERYONE frog stitches every now and again! I cannot expect perfection – but I can be gentle with a seam ripper and try again (which I did). Now I’m up to measuring and inserting elastic in the tube top, and pant waistband (pants also will get an attached drawstring which I have yet to sew…)
This weekend I plan to wear last year’s version of the Hot Patterns Sugar Babe top, only with cream pants instead of the black ones that shrunk up (damn). I will probably need to replace both of those summer black pants in my wardrobe. Maybe I’ll look for some nice linen at the sewing show or at Vogue – that’s a good thing to put on my list.
Okay, finished the tube top. It’s cute – but I’ll need to replace the elastic with some heavier non-roll type (that thin sew thru stuff doesn’t work – unless you sew thru it!) It’s got a cute drapey aspect to it, I like it. It’ll look cute with the pants.
Am I 100% satisfied? No. Am I a perfectionist? Yes. I’ll put it up for a few days before trying it on again.
I also cut up the black print mod skirt to make a simple cami top. I’ll sew some wide straps, elastic top and try it on to determine if it needs an underbust band of drawstring or elastic, or what. The floaty wide tops are in this season.
