The sundresses

I sewed the little girl smocked and dolly smocked sundresses the other night. I used a mashup of Weekend Sewing and E-how.com’s instructions. I used Prudent Baby’s tute for getting elastic smocking thread to work with a drop in bobbin (with a little help from SewingMamas.com). And I’m delighted! I found pink patent mary janes at Target to complete the look. She has her dress, a dolly dress and pink shoes – she was one happy girl (that plus her Gordon train that lights up!)

I have enough to make the Mendocino sundress for myself. I know I shouldn’t make totally matching outfits, but when you have three yards of any fabric, you have to use it up until it’s gone! The dress is darling (photos coming!) and she’s a cutie pie to be wearing it, too.

I’m still going to sew a turtleneck, and a long sleeved dress, but I can feel spring coming.
