The baby is asleep in the stroller next to me – it’s too large to wheel into her bedroom (and it’s 5pm, she shouldn’t sleep long anyway). But I’m only able to think about sewing because she’ll be up soon, I’m sure.
But I’m thinking that as soon as my SWAP is done, I want to make a big summer handbag and finish up the pink/aqua one I sewed a few years ago. I printed all the Janina patterns, they need taping up this week, and a muslin cut for them. Since I intend to use this pattern to make dress pants, I’m taking the time to make a muslin for the jean shorts version.
A handbag is big on my list because I only have a couple summer bags (and I need to use them!!) and they’re, well, fun!
For me, right now, I have no desire for shoes or RTW (what????) but I do want to sew. I don’t know why – maybe I’ve hit critical mass on the amount of stuff. There are other priorities in my life. And I like what I have! I’m not going to ask why, really.
It’s quiet, peaceful and cool out – I have on skinny jeans, ballet flats, a cream tee, black cardigan with a coral jacket over it. The one I sewed from Christine Jonson’s fitted jacket pattern. I love this jacket (and the brown one) I should finish those two in wovens I made a few years back – the ones that are hanging in the closet. It’s time! They fit so well, slim but not ultra skinny, a full two-piece sleeve, four panels, princess seams, nice definition of waist, good length, unlined. Just how I like ’em for casual jackets, really.
And the skinny jeans look fabulous on me (I’ve gone back down to below my Florida weight, which is my college weight, actually) and I like how I look. Modern, sleek.
I think I’ll go decide how much is left on those jackets and move them up in priority to my sewing cabinet…sew much sewing!
I just finished browsing Hot Patterns and Christine Jonson’s sites – so many great patterns! Here’s how they’d work up in my stash:
CJ basewear two tank in double layered black mesh and brown mesh (reversible)
CJ princess wrap top in lilac, shirred top in melon
Keyhole top in brown with cap sleeves
CJ fitted jacket in red batik print with red rickrack piping on neckline.
In to next fall:
CJ patterns fitted jacket (see previous post) in red suedecloth,
Maxi cardi in aubergine with gray rib knit trim
CJ basewear two with cowl neck, and 3/4 sleeves in gray knit with metallic silver designs
Flare leg pants in slate blue double knit
Flare leg pants in dark iridescent gold denim
HP Denim Diva topstitched jacket (iridescent denim)
HP Metropolitan Tribute tote in red home dec tweed
HP Portobello Road coat in red/black tweed faux sherpa
Boy, I will be SUPER stylish this summer and fall – and all from stash! That doesn’t even capture ALL the stash either!!
