I thought of a lot of things to sew, I’ll try to pen them here:
ruffled clutch – pale aqua for the bag, deep teal for the ruffle.
sundress – empire nursing style with halter top, possibly in pale pink jersey knit?
beach cover/tunic top – empire nursing style with tube top in gold jacquard knit
Black seed bead triple strand necklace with black shell drop
Wash up the rayon wide leg pants and button front dress. I think I’ll leave the dress white, but the pants I may dye a deep chocolate, and make a chocolate gauze ruched empire top with beaded halter straps, OR a chocolate tube top with beaded halter straps (the Hot Patterns Sugar Babe version, to also match with my Italian silk wide leg pants). IF I get ambitious, I might even batik a small geometric design on the pant leg cuffs. But nothing too over the top on these. I’d have to get time to batik, that’s why it’ll be a small design. Using some sort of handmade tjanting (get out one of my research books).
Black and white print tote with belt loops for scarves. Lots of pockets for baby gear.
For the babe, a blue pants set with yellow ribbons at vented ankles and top. To go with her yellow shrug sweater. Have to finish the shrug really, really soon!
Other things I saw on vacation – lots of smocked top or smocked empire waistlines. I don’t know how to smock. I will have to look it up in Vogue Sewing. The idea of dress as beach coverup was very appealing to me. Bright prints, of course. Lots of ‘earthy neutrals’ – linen, brown, aqua – floaty tops, wide pants, sundresses. Tall espadrille or cork wedges.
Imagine a matching baby dress in chocolate gauze with pale blue bows. oh! lovely!
