For your “2 piece set” – use the August Bandeau top and omit the bottom band elastic. This creates the loose draped top shown here.
Use your favorite palazzo pant or try the Free All Day Coulotte from Matchy Matchy Sewing Club and extend it to floor length.
I know, I know, I get fed these ads all the time – some are actually for real products from real brands but even so, whatever you make is so much better than you can buy. Not even just in quality (even if your seams are wonky), but in the fabric you choose, and the creativity with which you design your outfit. The fact that you take a pattern or two, you select your favorite fabric and you make the outfit is 10000 times more creative than “add to cart” which isn’t creative at all.
It’s slower to sew, but is it? So you’ve added to cart. When will you get that? Three days? Five? Even Amazon is not overnight anymore. Shein, Temu, whatever, they’re not overnight. You can go in your stash, fabric and pattern, find both, create something awesome in less time than it takes to wait for the UPS or Amazon trucks (and no dog-barking chaos either!)
Slower is good. Slow food is good, grown traditionally, cooked and eaten with care, savoring. Sewing is like that too! You’ll love your new two piece set far more if you picked out the fabric and enjoyed the sew as opposed to just a click or two.
If you want to know what this will look like on you, put on a pair of wide leg pants from your closet. Wrap a large scarf or pashmina around yourself just above the bust. Do you like it? What length do you like the top to be? Experiment with this look and then measure/cut your August, but omit the hem elastic, just hem without it.
Need to wear this to work? Wear it under an open shirt or blazer for coverage from A/C or for needing a professional look. After work? Take the blazer/shirt off and enjoy the breeze!
