My favorite international indie sewing patterns in a video review! This includes patterns I have sewn or I currently own. I round up some fun spring to summer looks including pants, tops, dresses, and two swimsuits along with a coat in several views. I review two French designers, a NZ designer and provide links to additional AUS designers, in addition to a longtime favorite from Canada.
Ready to Sew (FR)
Pio pant – tapered pants with pockets and a full elastic waist. Almost a little of a barrel leg pant. Great pockets, fun shape, super comfy. I wear these all the time!
Pleat pant – elastic waist, draped front, cropped wide leg pant. Great summer pant, cropped, wide leg with a fun draped front. Perfect for cotton and linen fabrics.
Josette – cut on cap sleeve (with color blocking) top or dress for woven fabric. Love the dyed fabric in the sample. I own this one, will sew it this summer.
The designer uses a lot of textiles that she’s repurposed (sheets, natural dyes, etc.) which I love. She’s based in the south of France and I am always inspired by her “letters” (blogs).
Maison Fauve (FR)
Chelsea blouse is the one I’m sewing that I show in the video above.
See more of them here, and you can buy them here without having to order from France! I love the pattern envelopes as well as the pattern design!
Papercuts Patterns (NZ)
Kaia twist front color block swimsuit
Aalto twist front and U front dress pattern
I have a LOT of patterns. I have to slow my roll on buying more patterns. But I have many from designers that I use again and again, and the following two are in that category of “made many times”.
Megan Nielsen (AUS)
Hovea jacket and coat – so many options in this pattern, including quilted, lined, unlined, cropped, mid length, long length, tie waist or not, GIANT pockets. I have made the cropped and mid length versions so far.
And I mention The Fold Line – indie pattern store in the UK, great videos, online sales in my video.
Jalie Sewing Patterns (CAN)
Last, but not least Jalie, from Canada! I have made Jalie patterns for years and years. Here is one of my most recent makes!
